Description

The protein encoded by this gene is expressed on the surface of T cells. It regulates B cell function by engaging CD40 on the B cell surface. A defect in this gene results in an inability to undergo immunoglobulin class switch and is associated with hyper-IgM syndrome.

Bio-activity

Measured in a cell proliferation assay using enriched human B cells in the presence of IL-4. The ED50 for this effect is 0.2-1.2 ng/mL in the presence of 20 ng/mL of Recombinant Human IL-4 and a cross-linking antibody, Mouse Anti-Hemagglutinin/HA Peptide Monoclonal Antibody.
