Product Overview
Recombinant human C-Reactive/CRP, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in HEK293 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
Description
CRP, also known as C-reactive protein, is a member of the pentaxin family. This protein is found in the blood, its levels rise dramatically during inflammatory processes occurring in the body. This increment is due to a rise in the plasma concentration of IL-6, which is produced predominantly by macrophages as well as adipocytes. Its physiological role is to bind to lysophosphatidylcholine expressed on the surface of dead or dying cells (and some types of bacteria) in order to activate the complement system via C1q. It is also play another important role in innate immunity, as an early defense system against infections. It has been shown that high levels of CRP in humans is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
