Description
This gene encodes a secreted protein which is mainly expressed in the endothelial cells in human lung and kidney tissues. The expression of this gene is regulated by cytokines, suggesting that it may play a role in endothelium-dependent pathological disorders. The transcript contains multiple polyadenylation and mRNA instability signals. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Bio-activity
Measured by its ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of Jurkat human acute T cell leukemia cells. When 1 × 10^5 cells/well are added to Recombinant Human Endocan/ESM coated plates, adhesion is induced in a dose dependent manner after a 1 hour incubation at 37 centigrade. The ED50 for this effect is 2-10 μg/mL. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory for each application.
Storage
Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
