Description
This gene encodes a transmembrane protein that functions as a receptor for endogenous peptides guanylin and uroguanylin, and the heat-stable E. coli enterotoxin. The encoded protein activates the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial diarrhea (autosomal dominant) and meconium ileus (autosomal recessive).
Bio-activity
Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. When Human Guanylyl Cyclase C Antibody is immobilized at 100 ng/mL (100 μL/well), Biotinylated Recombinant Human Guanylyl Cyclase C Fc Chimera Avi-tag binds with an ED50 of 0.500-3.00 ng/mL. Measured by its ability to inhibit neurite outgrowth of E16-E18 rat embryonic cortical neurons. 2.50 μg/mL of protein is able to significantly inhibit neurite outgrowth.
