Description
Enables monosaccharide binding activity and sialic acid binding activity. Acts upstream of or within cell adhesion; negative regulation of inflammatory response; and negative regulation of phagocytosis, engulfment. Located in external side of plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including gonad; heart; hemolymphoid system gland; liver; and lung. Orthologous to several human genes including SIGLEC8 (sialic acid binding Ig like lectin 8).
Bio-activity
Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. When Recombinant Mouse Siglec-E Fc Chimera is immobilized at 2 μg/mL (100 μL/well), it binds to Recombinant Mouse Galectin-3 (HEK293-expressed) Protein with an ED50 of 0.08-0.8 μg/mL.
