Description
This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein which is typically expressed on endothelial cells and cells of the immune system. It binds to integrins of type CD11a / CD18, or CD11b / CD18 and is also exploited by Rhinovirus as a receptor.
Bio-activity
Measured by the ability of the immobilized protein to support the adhesion of PMA-stimulated HSB2 human peripheral blood acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells. When 5 × 10^4 cells/well are added to rrICAM/Fc Chimera coated plates (12.5 μg/mL with 100 μL/well), >20% will adhere after 1 hour incubation at 37 centigrade. Also supports adhesion (40-70%) of PMA treated rat Nb-211 cells when coated at 12.5 μg/mL. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory for each application.
Storage
Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
